For what it's worth, however, I feel that my rating of this game is fairly subjective - if you enjoy DBZ and you enjoy fighting games, you may want to have a look at this one. And while it is a decent fighting game, it seems to pale in comparison to the game it borrows its three-fighter aspect from - Marvel Vs. Overall, I felt that there have been other DBZ games in the past that have been more interesting and engaging than this one was.
The arcade mode is simply a series of fights, and the game has so little to offer as a single-player exprience. More off-putting, however, were the rather lengthy load times and a complete lack of deviance from the standard style of your average fighting game. The mechanics do seem quite engaging, but my ability to grasp them was nil (and perhaps that is more about my lack of patience than any fault of the game's). Where this game falters is in the fact that it is simply a standard fighting game. Some might fault the game for ripping off the show, but I saw this as an homage to the legacy of the series. Clearly, at least some of the staff who worked on this game are big fans, as every character has some sort of finishing move that is a lovingly crafted reproduction of a clip from the show. The one thing ARC System Works gets right here is the phenomenal attention to detail paid to iconic moments from the Dragon Ball Z anime. However, my experience with this game left me sorely disappointed, and was utterly bored after about 2 hours of gameplay.
